iBet: Ukraine In Ominous Form Heading Into Poland Clash
World Cup Qualification, Group H
Ukraine V Poland, kick off 7.0pm
Back Ukraine at 4/5
Also back Bosnia -3 at 17/20 with Betvictor (7pm kick off)
Lay Ecuador at 2.14 with Betfair (10pm kick off)
England should get the job done against Montenegro but it’s hard to advise a bet at 2/5 given that they have played them three times and all three have ended all square, including the Group H qualifier in March. That was a classic England effort, playing well for the first half but producing a weak second half performance to draw 1-1.
It should be noted that Montenegro, who are only a point behind England in the group and will still harbour hopes have of winning it, are a decent side who have lost only one of their last eight games. Odds comparison site easyodds.com has the best price about a draw at 4/1, while England to lead at half time and be drawing at full time is 22/1. A better value bet might lie in the same group, where Ukraine host Poland and look bet material at 4/5 with several firms.
Ukraine took a little while to hit their straps in this group but they have been in great form lately having won four of their last five and drawn the other one with England. Those results include two mightily impressive results – a 3-1 away win against tonight’s opponents and a real eye opener in thrashing Montenegro 4-0 away from home as well. Montenegro have only shipped eight goals all campaign. With Poland slightly off the pace but still in with a chance of qualification, they need to go for the win and that could play into the hands of the confident home side, who scored 16 goals in three games before their 0-0 against England last time out.
In the South American qualifiers Uruguay have been digging themselves out of a hole with three straight wins and I’m not sure Ecuador should be such strong even money favourites to beat them in the 10pm kick off. Uruguay, Suarez and all, look top value at 3/1 but these two are on the same points and the draw is a big runner. I’ll be laying the home side at 2.14 with Betfair.
In Group G Bosnia have been full of goals – they have notched 25 times in eight games and have yet to play Liechtenstein at home yet, and that happens tonight. In fairness to Liechtenstein they have only shipped 11 goals in their last seven games and have managed two draws, so although bottom of the group they are not the kind of whipping boys San Marino are by any means. However, I can’t get away from the fact that they lost their first home game 8-1, to Bosnia. Bet Victor have the home side 17/20 to win by four or more goals. It’s 5/4 that there will be over 2.5 goals in the second half, which again could be of interest. The game kicks off at 7pm.
