iBet: Baby Beckhams 5/1 to play for their dad’s team
Ipswich V Barnsley, kick off 7.30pm, Sky Sports 1
Back Ipswich at 8/11
Although Ipswich have only won four of their 13 games in the Championship this season, and sit below half way and have not won in four, there are reasons to make me think that 8/11 is an acceptable price about them getting the better of Barnsley. Mick McCarthy’s men are 13th in the table overall, but sit eighth in the eight-match form table after scoring 13 times and losing only twice in that run.
Importantly when considering the bet, they are even higher when we make a table based only on home form – their record of four wins and two defeats out of six games makes them the seventh best home side in the division. And interestingly if we make a table based on only away games, Barnsley are rock bottom six defeats out of six, and 14 goals conceded.
They do score a few, and both teams to score at 4/5 with BetVictor could be interesting. But defence is certainly Barnsley’s Achilles heel. They have conceded a league-high 30 goals in their 13 games and if they carry on like that are going down. Barnsley are also bottom of the division’s eight-match form table with only one win in that run and this is a big chance for Ipswich to secure three points. Incidentally, Mick McCarthy has drifted from favouritism for the Republic of Ireland manager’s job to 4/1after strong support came in for Martin O’Neill. The former Aston Villa and Sunderland manager is now as short as 1/4 on for the gig.
Ladbrokes has opened a special book following David Beckham’s purchase of the Miami MLS franchise. Beckham is 10/1 to buy a stake in a Premier League club in the next ten years, and it’s 40/1 that Miami win the MLS in the first year and 6/1 they triumph within the next decade. Ladbrokes offer 5/1 with either Brooklyn or Romeo Beckham plays for their dad’s team.
