In interviews with 2,000 men and women from across the UK by herbal stress remedy suppliers Kalms, 37% said that moving is the most stressful life event in their life, closely followed by having a baby (34%), getting married (18%) and changing jobs (10%).
General worry about finances and anxiety over selling an existing house were the top two catalysts for stress (53%) and organising the legalities of moving house was also a problem for half of those surveyed. Around 75% of the 45+ age group said that packing up belongings and leaving memories behind was the primary trigger of stress and worry.
The report also found that women find dealing with estate agents more stressful than men do (36% v 27%) and also struggle more with leaving memories behind (30% v 19%).
