Ibet: Get With Juventus In The Europa League If The ‘Big Guns’ Are Back
Lay Fiorentina at 4.0 with Betfair
A late equaliser for Fiorentina in the first leg of this last 16 tie gained them an unexpected 1-1 draw and I see this as a chance to get a price about laying the home side. With the Scudetto already all but tied up and the Europa League final being held at Juventus Stadium in May, it was a bit of a surprise to see Juventus play a weakened side in the first leg. Perhaps they were drawn into a sense of false security after Fiorentina put up a pathetic effort in defeat in the league the previous weekend in an insipid 1-0 defeat in which they did not muster a single effort on target. Juventus rested Serie A top scorer Carlos Tevez and dropped Fernando Llorente and Paul Pogba to the bench. But all the same they started like a house on fire, scoring the opener inside the first five minutes.
Those who watched the first 15 minutes of the tie but not the rest will have been very surprised that Fiorentina were able to come away with a 1-1 draw as at one stage they looked like being over-run. But the tempo of the game dropped and Mario Gomez was able to snatch the vital away goal. It means that Juventus have to score, but that’s not exactly been a problem for them this season. Indeed they have scored in every single league game and every single Europa League game this season.
They have only not scored in two fixtures this season. One a defeat in the final group stage of the Champions League, which they lost 1-0 to Galatasaray to on a dreadful pitch (the game had to be called off the previous day due to snow and the general view was it shouldn’t have been played the next day either). The other was a 1-0 loss at Roma in the Italian Cup. Juve have only lost one league game out of 28 to Italian opposition this season. That was a 2-4 defeat at Fiorentina in October. But I feel that factor gives us an acceptable price about laying the home side here. The bottom line is that Juventus are a better side, and I expect them to have their big guns back. If they do, I will be laying Fiorentina. Juventus are the 3/1 favourites to win the competition.
Following reports of further corruption during the World Cup bidding process, Paddy Power now go 7/4 that Qatar will lose the right to host the tournament in 2022. It’s 2/5 it goes ahead as planned.Tagged in: Champions League, Fernando Llorente, fiorentina, Juventus, Paddy Power, Paul Pogba
