Will there ever be an end to bullying?
This morning I read that 90% of people surveyed by the UK’s Eating Disorder charity, BEAT, have been victims of bullying, with half of those directly attributing the bullying to the onset of their Eating Disorder. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the remaining numbers could have been bullied as a result. It is [...]

The Peaceful Protest against Homophobia
A few weeks ago I felt moved and therefore obliged to write about the horrific news that a number of teens across America had committed suicide as a result of being bullied about their sexuality. The more I read when researching, the more upset I became and angry that our race can be so hurtful [...]

The Bitter Remains of Anorexia
Lasagne. That is all it was and off we go, back into the whirlwind of emotions that clatter together to form Anorexia.
Yesterday was my niece’s 1st birthday. She was born six months into my last lot of inpatient treatment, a time where I was stuck as to where I was in terms of recovery; not [...]

Happy Meals aren’t so happy anymore…
Well, not if you live in San Francisco. In a desperate bid to tackle childhood obesity, the city has become the first in America to ban (by law) the giving away of free toys with unhealthy food in restaurants. Quite a drastic move, but not a new idea.

Bad timing: Repeat abortions are on the rise
The number of young women having at least one abortion is on the rise, demonstrating clearly that Government policies are failing. The Department of Health released new information that worryingly, over 20,000 women under 25 had at least two abortions over the last year; with around 3,800 having four or more.

“I don’t want a fat child… Anorexia would be preferable”
“I don’t want a fat child. Getting an eating disorder like Anorexia would be preferable.” The words of an obese mother in a trashy magazine this week. Much as I try, I cannot help but scan the fronts of weeklies and being me, I couldn’t ignore this one.

Bribes for Lives – Sterilising Drug Addicts
She has been described as a ‘Nazi’ and sparked anger from religous and pro-life groups across the UK. Barbara Harris is an American woman on a mission, to offer money to drug addicts in return for “longterm birth control” (a smushy, inaccurate term; she means sterilisation) – so, in effect, bribing them to have their [...]
