There are few club events in London that have lasted as long as Wiggle and that have managed to maintain such a staunch music policy. The club night started out 19 years ago and, like many parties, as a slightly illegal party just for friends but it soon grew into a legitimate promotion. Rework is an electronic music trio made up of members Daniel Varga, Michael Kuebler and Sascha Hedgehog. They produce a variety of different styles from the minimal dancefloor-orientated Tell Me Why (which was released on the much-lauded Items & Things label) through to the more folky Wrong In All Our Ways. A few weeks ago I spoke to German producer Zombie Nation (AKA Florian Senfter) about his musical history and his studio set up. Having interviewed Tiga, with whom he collaborated on the ZZT project last year, I knew he had quite an impressive studio and was rather adept at making new music via his analogue equipment. To celebrate the ‘end of the world’, Damian Lazarus – head of record label Crosstown Rebels – is organising a 24-hour festival, called Day Zero. Featuring appearances from a variety of electronic music acts, along with spiritual awareness classes, meetings with Mayan descendents, special ceremonies… and all taking place in an awe-inspiring site in Mexico.
