Alex Niggemann lifts the lid on his forthcoming album
A few months ago I downloaded a mix by German house and techno wiz Alex Niggemann – typically when I enjoy a mix by someone I investigate their background and discover more of their music and other mixes… which is exactly what happened with Alex.I then saw him DJing at a party held during the Amsterdam Dance Event back in October and subsequently heard he was working on album. I asked Alex for a little progress report on what will be his first attempt at a Long Player – he also kindly donated an exclusive hour segment from his set at the infamous Watergate club in Berlin, recorded just a few weeks ago at the Clubmotoren event.

Larse: Smooth sounds emanating from Germany
One of the leading factors in what’s been something of a rennaisance of house this year has been the large number of tracks that feature vocals. I’ve spoken about this with several DJs over the last months and there’s a definite feeling that having a vocal element in a house track helps make the music more accessible and gives it a wider appeal (for better or worse, depending on your stance). One person who has succeeded in making some instant classics in terms of vocal house has been Dortmund-based DJ/producer Larse.

Mosca: ‘I get lumped in with that scene but I don’t fit in anywhere’
Over the last couple of years, Mosca has built a solid reputation up for his wide ranging taste in music. Touching Bass: Paper Tiger
Not many artists can boast the same summary as Leeds-based group, Paper Tiger. The clan, who have performed with the likes of Tokimonsta and Rustie, have forged together an amalgamation of live and sampled music in order to create a sound that surfs untroubled between the realms of electronic, hip-hop and jazz.

It can’t be easy for any band – be they American, British or otherwise –to jump on a plane, travel for hours and hours on end, spent vast amounts of money and undergo huge amounts of stress and still remain dedicated and passionate to the thing they love – touring.
