Habbo Hotel, an online world popular with teenagers, has hit the headlines thanks to a spate of thefts within its pixellated walls. A Dutch member of the site has been fingered for pinching nearly £3,000 of virtual furniture – that users of the site pay for with real money - and arrested, while another five teens have been questioned by police. Apparently the gang moved the stolen goods into their own in-game hotel rooms and proceeded to live like virtual lords. It certainly puts a new slant on cyber crime.
