The one bizarre thing Alistair Darling said during his post G7 meeting press conference was that the assembled ministers and central bankers didn't mention the state of the US dollar in their communique because it wasn't discussed. We can only assume they ran out of time before the coffee arrived or that the Americans declared the dollar "off topic". An odd affair either way

Cash rules everything around me get the cream Dollar Dollar bill Y'all
Cash rules everything around me get the cream Dollar Dollar bill Y'all
Cash rules everything around me get the cream Dollar Dollar bill Y'all
This famous Hip Hop chorus should be changed now in light of the weakness of the dollar to:
Cash rules everything around me get the cream Euro Euro bill Y'all
Cash rules everything around me get the cream Euro Euro bill Y'all
Cash rules everything around me get the cream Euro Euro bill Y'all

The EURO is King but last week nobody wanted to buy Italian government bonds. Spreads between German bonds and other Euro bonds are widening, which is not good for the long term outlook of the EURO. There is plenty of debt in Euroland too, just not as much as in Anglo Saxon land.
When enough people realise that buying the EURO just because everything else is a load of garbage is in fact not that good an idea then things will get interesting.
