That paragon of journalistic endeavour, Roy Greenslade, has signed The Independent's online petition to save the Afghan student journalist, Sayed Pervez Kambaksh, from the death sentence which was handed down by a religious court after he downloaded a document from the Internet on women's rights. As Greenslade points out in his blog, this campaign is not just about press freedom but about human rights and women's rights in particular. "It is barbaric to put anyone to death for standing up for human rights," he says. Thanks, Roy
