I've never paid attention to the Empire Awards before, and looking at these pictures I don't think I've missed much. Everyone looks mildly bored and not a little awkward, with the exception of Rob Brydon who seems to be having a great time. So, yeah... good for him I suppose.
Right, the clothes: Top marks to Tamsin Egerton, who looked just lovely in white. Honourable mentions also to Sam Riley and Matt Damon - both upped the style stakes (which were otherwise pretty low), not to mention the eye candy factor. But Alfie Allen and Jaime Winstone, really... A+ for effort, G- for success.
The Good
Tamsin Egerton
So dainty! And pretty! Weird shoes though.
Sam Riley
Very good Mr Riley. A lesson in nonchalant chic.
Matt Damon
Ok, so maybe safe = dull but we were getting desparate. And he is nice to look at isn't he?
The Bad
Gemma Arterton
Silky shirt, chiffon skirt, patent leather belt... how many trends can you get in one look.
Emma Watson
Yeah. Same problem as Gemma. Could have been so good... until she put on the shoes. And that spiky cuff. And that bag.
Rob Brydon
Did he borrow that tie from David Cameron?
... And the ugly
James Corden
So the suit's fine (though it should be unbuttoned). Even the nu-rave Tshirt is passable (in a passe kinda way). But what in God's name is going on with his feet?
Ewan McGregor
Whoa. Jeans, jacket, pinstripes, velvet scarf... he's like a walking jumble sale.
Alfie Allen & Jaime Winstone
Just awful. Both of them. Is this some kind of reaction to nepotistic in-breeding?

They all look terrible (except Matt D). What on earth were they thinking of? And Tamsin Egerton could do with a few big sandwiches.

Yes, Matt Damon looks great, the rest like they walked into a charity shop and someone yelled 'catch!' (Was that once a Victoria Wood line? If so, 'spect!)
However, will someone tell all the other flabby-necked gents out there, not necessarily celebs, to please put a tie on, even half undone. Your wrinkly neck, pitiful chest hair peek and especially your shirt which was NOT DESIGNED to go tieless - clue, it has a collar stand - militate against a stylish look. get a shirt which opens without a collar stand. Is that too difficult? Probably.
