Since when did being a "mom" become about being "hot"? There's something very unsettling about it. Of course, there's no reason on earth why mothers shouldn't retain their attractiveness. It's offensive to suggest otherwise. But when we reduce whole the maternal miracle to a beauty contest... well, something's clearly very wrong. Isn't it? And ditto all those articles on the latest model/actress/whatever to lose all her baby weight in a week.
So, er, it's with that sobering set of conclusions that we bring you these snaps from yesterday's launch of the "Hot Mom Handbook" in California. (Incidentally, the organisers might want to leave out a couple of criteria next year. Strange as it may sound, not that many of "hot" "famous" "moms-to-be" are really all that, er, famous)
After the jump: some of the best and worst fashions, plus explanations as to who exactly's wearing them.
Busy Phillips
(Appropriately enough, played "Hope" in ER)
Nicely done!
Mary Lynn Rajskub
(Actress, various TV roles, played 'Pageant Assistant Pam' in Little Miss Sunshine.)
Strange pregnant prints, part one...
Jodie Sweetin
(Used to be in Full House. More importantly, had her own catchphrase.)
...And two
Ali Landry
(formerly Miss USA, now the Dorritos girl)
Meh. Not bad. Weird choice of accessories though.
Melissa Joan Hart
(Legitimately famous. Remember Sabrina The Teenage Witch?)
Not really feeling the whole underwear-as-outerwear look but LOVING the kid's stripes

that is cool

Since airheads like you started writing about it.

I think it's unfair to say it's GS's fault for raising an issue - you're exactly right that being hot and a mum should not be connected in any way, and in any case, these are hardly shining examples of yummy mummies (nor are they in any way famous). Melissa Joan Hart has grown up a bit!

Clifford, your smarter-than-thou commentary is so boring!!
Judging by the nonsense you vomit all over the Eat blog, you clearly think of yourself as something of a renaissance-man, impeccable of taste and thoroughly high of brow.
Bare in mind then, that the vision that I and I’m sure countless others have of you, is that of a manic twit brooding in some dark room just outside of Swindon, planning your next witty single line onslaught at those who are in fact paid to express their views.
If you have such a continuously bad time here, why keep coming back?

Dean, you can be rude about me but I cannot say what I think? How does that work? Glad you think I am witty, though!

Yeah "witty".

Ali Landry is looking pretty hot. Not so sure about the others. I sometimes wonder what the fascination is with hot moms and some men..
