Sleeping Around: NSFW Literary promotion

By Catherine Townsend

Cult author Chuck Palahniuk's new book Snuff is the tale of a veteran porn star who wants to go out with a bang, or as Fleshbot pointed out, "a 600-person gangbang to be specific"! It's coming out this summer, and Chuck has released an oh-so-trendy book trailer that is a spoof of a cheesy 70s porn flick The Wizard of Ass, with anti-heroine Cassie Wright playing Dorothy.

A word of warning: Your boss will probably miss the "it's a respected author's book campaign" irony and assume that you ARE watching bad 70s porn. It's probably not a good idea to watch it if you are offended by a) women in bikinis, b) 70s hairstyles or c) references to corn as sexual innuendo.

I'm counting the days until I can get my hands on a copy. I've read everything that Chuck has ever written: Fight Club was genius, and I also loved Choke (who else could juxtapose sexual addiction, the Heimlich manoeuvre, kidnapping and rock collecting??) Survivor and Lullaby, all for different reasons. He's dark and twisted, but the man is hilarious.

If you can't wait, Random House has posted an excerpt! And here's some more promotion for the book with Chuck interviewing "Cassie Wright"...

geezzz, this takes the cake for being the most boring blog you have ever done , I'm losing the will to take mortal combat with you Cathy

Ok, so this isn't aimed at Lara. But from reading the comments from some other entries, I expect lots of criticism for Ms Townsend is on it's way..but please read this first..

So, it's perfectly okay for people to be hooked on smoking and drinking, ignoring the expensive TV ad's promoting NHS stop smoking clinics (which, by the way affects all you readers, as you pay for these) and draining the NHS's kitty further by inhaling so much smoke you could pave half the M25 with the contents of their lungs.

But when someone has a weakness for saying no to hot sex and chooses to write about this instead, you all put her down?? In what way is this affecting you so much that you are forced to read her column/blog, and spend time creating insults at the the author? Please, do something worthwhile today, and compare the costs of condoms and STI tests with liver transplants and oxygen machines.

If you read past the blog title, you would discover that Catherine is a very intelligent woman, who does alot more than have sex, believe it or not.

For all you other women, who are saying that she is giving us a bad name, surely you are being hypocritical. Are you not the ones giving out the message that we are falling back, instead of fighting against, this double standards sh*t. If men can enjoy sex, what the hell is stopping us? Please give me a reason because so far I haven't heard one worth sticking by.

Unless you have something constructive to say, I think that you would be better logging onto the AA and firing some insults at them instead of at someone having harmless fun.

In the mean time Catherine, best wishes and have an amazing time with the guys! Don't mind if I join you

FAO Lauren:
You should pick your ‘easy target’ scapegoats more wisely.

The last audited figures I saw showed that, in 2000, treating smoking-related illnesses cost the NHS £1.5 Billion.
Whereas taxes on tobacco netted some £9 Billion for the Treasury.

Those of us who choose to smoke are subsidising the NHS for the rest of you - to the tune of an *additional* *five times* what we get out of it.
And that's *before* we consider the fact that we smokers die much younger than non-smokers do; thereby saving the Exchequer who knows how much in reduced payments for domestic care provision for the elderly, increased pensions, reduced NHS costs for those oh-so-expensive-to-treat geriatric conditions, etc.

In short, in a society with taxpayer-funded Health Care, it is every citizen's democratic DUTY to smoke.

That said, I'm right with you on the point that the naysayers ought to go elsewhere.
;-)

I have a friend like Catherine Townsend and she has just turned 64 and says she is going to kill herself since instead of the magical beauty she was, she is turning into an old crone; she has never believed in God, the last judgement or Christ's words on sex 'that neither fornicators nor adulterers will enter the kingdom of heaven'(Matt 15.19). I have told her that if it all turns out to be true she could be old forever (hell) eternally conscious that she has missed the point of this life which is to achieve eternal youth, beauty and glory through following the path of goodness taught by Christ.
Miss Townsend - you will never know authentic love because no man will ever trust you and you will move into old age without hope and that hopelessness will all reflect in your face.

Oh dear me.

The thing, 'Richard Alderson', with posting on a *debating* site, is that you need to be able to *debate*.
The theory that you are arguing for has to be based on *facts* & *logic*.

You, otoh, are pushing a self-contradictory pack of lies designed to perpetuate the power of a misogynistic patriarchy.

Good to see "Lara" on posting early under one of her ten aliases which include several male names. Wonder if she'll ever get bored? For someone who hates the blog, she's on it all the time! what a sad old cow.
What's the betting she'll be on to respond to this in a few minutes - doubtless under a false name and accusing me of being Catherine - which I am not..

no you are probably Mikey

Deary me..you all take this so seriously.

Get out and screw!!
