We all know that Victoria Beckham enjoys a bit of the old shop shop but what we didn't know until this week was that when it comes to cupcakes she likes to eat eat eat. Well, strictly, we still don't know, but that didn't stop Heidi Klum giving her a year's supply as a birthday present. Sweet.
Shopping Bag is not as slender as Posh, but is partial to eating cakes - and giving them as presents - which is why Konditor & Cook's new collaboration with five British creatives is an excellent thing to happen upon.
Each collaborator has designed three mini-cakes, and they all have their own two months of glory on the shop floor. Get there before the end of this month to sample the designs of florist Paula Pryke. If you're a fan of Badly Drawn Boy, on the other hand, you may want to try his good luck cakes (horse-shoe, four leaf clover, cherries from a fruit machine) in June and July. More a design fan? What do you know - Suzy Hoodless has turned her hand to cake decor too: 3 sketches of minimalist furniture (I know it all sounds a bit Zoolander, but run with it) will adorn the little fancies in August and September.
October sees Celia Birtwell take the floor with tartan cakes; and, come December, much feted architect Jamie Fobert (recently interviewed in The Independent Magazine) promises some directional ideas to finish off this old year and see us into the next.
All in all, stylish snacks in abundance. Yes, at £2.95 each you won't actually be buying them in abundance, but one every two months (think of it as a budget version of Heidi Klum's arrangement) can't be a bad plan.
