We're still not quite sure what exactly the point of Glamour's Women of The Year Awards is but they sure give good celebrity. Last night's guestlist included Lily Allen, Mark Ronson, Daisy Lowe, Hayden Panettiere, Kate Beckinsale, Beth Ditto and les Spices. All fine by us!
As for the clothes...well, where to begin? The usual contenders all looked delightful: Alexa Chung we want your wardrobe; you too Daisy. An unexpected triumph also for Sarah Brown who looked cute as a button in top-to-toe black. Ditto Baby Spice and Kate Beckinsale, but not so much Geri Halliwell who looked less like she was attending an award ceremony and more like the chairman of Drag Queens 4 Liz Hurley (or something.)
The Good
Erin O'Connor
Odd? Yes. Good? Surprisingly so.
Alexa Chung
Soon we'll be sick of her... in the meantime we'll admire her dress. Ooohh and that bag.
Sarah Brown
Monochrome and demure but still pretty. If we were at school we'd want to be her friend.
Daisy Lowe (& Mark Ronson)
Edgy, glam, retro, modern. Top marks for the both of them.
The Bad
Kimberly Stewart
Shiny purple and black is rarely a good look - especially not in summer.
Hayden Panettiere
This could so easily have been a fine, perhaps slightly frumpy choice from Hayden. And then they sewed on that hem. Also: gold shoes, silver clutch? Tsk.
Annie Lennox
Another almost-okay-but-not-quite ensemble. What's with that bag? And are those trousers underneath that dress?
...And The Ugly
Geri Halliwell
Oh jeez. Sequins, white fluff, translucent turquoise? And is that a dread lock in her hair?
Lily Allen
It pains us to say it but this is not OK. We actually quite like the hair - and, in fact, the nails. But why the shimmery pink ball gown? Sigh
