Sleeping Around: Who wants to take Dante's class?

51qfvnygl_ss500__2 By Catherine Townsend

Another day, another male author making loads of money from the insecurities of women. First time author Dante Moore wants to let us all know how we can snag ourselves a "man of quality" (aka a man like him) in his new book,The Re-Education of the Female.

All we have to do is cook, stay skinny, wear sexy things around the house and do whatever our man tells us to do (because, Moore writes, "What you won't do, ten broads around the corner will".) Am I missing something?

Who in their right mind who want to date a guy who says things like (when discussing women's size), "the fatter you get, the more you decrease your single-man pool"?

Sometimes there are worse things than being single, and dating a man like Dante Moore, who according to the Washington Post, once broke up with a woman because of a misunderstanding over $15 change at a fast food restaurant, is one of them.

>Am I missing something?

No, but it seems I am. I'm off round the corner. Wayhey!

If the man wants to go off with the ten slags around the corner, the woman should feel relieved he's left and throw his things in the trash and go find a nice, employed young man around the corner for herself. As for Dante, what a loser, his tips are for the bimbo's and gold diggers of this world, who clearly can't do much better anyway!

What man in his right mind would want a woman like Mr D Moore wants? Sounds like the kind of person who has an inflatable doll in the closet and a standing account at the local takeaway.

well if you look at the cover of that book it seems to be catering to the tastes of African Americans and if you listen to their music and see their music videos and see their ideas of womanhood it is totally patriarchal whereby the woman is just an adornment for the men - there for making the man look good and having lots of sex. That guy Puff Daddy is the arch type black male - full of bling, fast cars, sexy women and only interested in money. In the real world, black women get left with all the children and the men run off with any woman he can get his hands on, leaving the next generation of under fathered black males to run riot. We talk about lack of rights for Islamic women and Americans are big on that - but the average African American woman has no rights and their men are chauvanist and sex maniacs.

Cuz,
Congratulations on your new book, thought I would order one for my mother for Christmas ........ Just kidding.
Going home for Christmas, hope to see you. Tell your mother “ hello“ and congratulations again.

Your cousin,

Warren

Listening to you.

"the fatter you get, the more you decrease your single-man pool"

This statement is almost certainly true, (and would be for single men too btw) although I suspect your point is that the men who are no longer in the pool (to continue with this rather bad metaphor) aren't the ones you'd want to have a relationship with anyway.

"Moore's girlfriend, Khanequa Tuitt" - she's getting "a man of quality". "He's one of the good ones." she says. Imagine the bad ones. And were they born Dante and Khanequa , do you suppose? Some are born absurd, some achieve absurdity and some have to thrust absurdity on themselves. over and over again.

I think it is such bull what the author is saying. How about finding a real man who loves you. I have been happily married for 10 years now, we also married young,so my husband has been with me through my skinny day's, and my weight gain day's, and we are still in love like in the early day's. I am a testament that there are good men out there who will love you for you ladies. Just don't look for them, they will find you when the time is right!

Cilla,
don't know if you've lived in an African-American area before, but the culture is actually highly matriarchal-despite what the media may show and MTV and BET may play.
If only because 1/3 of young black men are locked up or one parole. Many, many black kids have grown up without any type of father figure around, except when mom brings home a boyfriend, then often just as quickly kicks him out as he succumbs to the activities of the 1/3 above. I think black women have been resisting this patriarchy, they certainly aren't damsels in distress.

I tend to see the book itself as just another oversexed fantasy,- the most insulting thing about women in this book is that if he does indeed have money, then there are women popping diet pills and shopping at the local skank shop to snag someone just like him.

Devoted to you.

It's night, the
fall of an absent
caprice leaves
in the country
a sullen behaviour,
the sound of
a fancy and
always that care,
like a beautiful
fortune.
