Man that is brutal. I think making people register online 3 days in advance is a little bit much. why don't they just put scanable bar codes on pass ports so they can just scan your passport and pull up everything they need to know about you? Just one more pain in the you know what.

Oz

Apparently he married someone in the mid-west, while he was still using his "real" name and that got him a green card. The marriage did not last long and he moved on to California. He contacted his family in Germany to say that he was changing his name to "Chichester" because people had so much trouble with his German surname (it is a bit of a mouthful).

So apparently he was legally in the USA, and as his lawyer said anyone can use whatever name he or she likes so long as it is not done for unlawful reasons. Until he kidnapped his child, (and if he has nothing illegally to do with the disappearance of that San Marino couple) then he had not done anything wrong. He might have done so if he had got the official marriage license for his marriage to Ms Boss - but he avoided that problem.

I went to the US (Los Angeles in fact) for the first time in years this January. When I bought my ticket online from Virgin Atlantic, part of the form involved the registration you mention in your blog. This was a painless process and was a few weeks before I was due to arrive in LA.

So I don't think it will be as bad as you think when it becomes mandatory.
