It's looking more and more possible that Watchmen will be the first film adapted from an Alan Moore graphic novel that the fans actually like (past attempts include the deeply unextraordinary League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and the v. bad V for Vendetta).
Kevin Smith has seen the film courtesy of its director Zach Snyder, and afterwards called it "fucking astounding". Smith was one of those given an early glimpse of The Dark Knight and subsequently gave it the first of many rave reviews, so he ought to be a reliable critic. That said, he's also the man who made this rubbish.

Dogma? Great film. Not as good as Clerks and Clerks 2 but still a good film for us Atheists.
I'm a fan of Alan Moore and I liked V too.
Jersey Girl would have been more predictable as a choice of the worst Kevin Smith film, one I would have agreed with.
I also didn't think 300 was Xenophobic and racist.
I will look forward to watching the film, no matter what reviewers say, because it's very rare that I agree with anyone ...;0
P.S. Hated Dances with Wolves.
