Waxing body hair has long been a rite of passage for adults, but according to MSNBC kids in the US (some as young as age six!) are getting waxed, and it's parents who are driving the trend. One New York City salon is offering discounted waxing for "virgin" hair for kids of 8 and older, so that "growth can be permanently stopped in just 2 to 6 sessions". Their slogan? "Save your child a lifetime of waxing... and put the money in the bank for her education instead."
This presents me with a dilemma: I choose to suffer through the pain of waxing, and prefer the aesthetics of the Brazilian. But I do worry about the fact that it's gradually becoming "expected" for women to be perfectly smooth everywhere except the top of her head, and I definitely think it's wrong to force this ideal on children.

There is no dilemma. The American trend is dangerous and the argument about the money is ridiculous.
I love a Brazilian. You can ask your partner to do it, but you can't expect or demand it. And boys should learn and accept that their real life sex partners look different than the women in the porn they see on the web.

Parents who require (or encourage) their children to adopt adult grooming practices (make up even)? How far removed are they from the parents of baby beauty pageant contestants? Do they have any self-awareness at all?

What if having hairy limbs and armpits becomes fashionable?

Yes this is simply ridiculous.
The amount of hair a woman (or man) has on their body should be something that is free from any accepted norm.
Some natural underarm hair on a woman can be very sexy for instance, when the individual is confident and sexy in themselves that's the important thing.
