In The Information section of today's paper I've compiled, with the help of an expert panel including fellow blogger Jack Riley, a list of what we feel are the 50 best video games currently available to buy.
To be honest, it was a lot harder than I first thought, and there's quite a few games that I wish there could have been space for.
Still, I believe we've managed to do a good job – but what do you think? Are there any glaring omissions? Have we chosen any games you feel are massively over-rated? Let us know your thoughts.
How can you include Fallout 3 when it's not been released yet?
Still, it's not a bad list by any stretch of the imagination. There's a nice well-rounded selection of stuff in there, even though I find myself doubting whether you've actually played them all!

To be fair, putting Fallout 3 on the list was a mistake, and Spore is widely regarded as a bit of a letdown ...

I think Crysis Warhead - multiplayer - is the best game this year. Last year my favorites were tied between Crysis, Call of Duty 4, and Bioshock. All were A++ top notch games.

I think Fallout 3 should be a good game, but who knows since its not out yet?

1. Why are both 'Rock Band' and 'Guitar Hero' in there? Make up your mind, they can't both be in the top 50.
2. Oddly, you used a picture from the upcoming 'Empire: Total War' to represent 'Medieval 2: Total War'.
3. Way too many racing games, from similar sub-genres of racing games as well. You should really have picked your top one from each sub-genre.
4. 'Lego Indiana Jones'? Really?
5. Why 'Zelda: Twilight Princess'? 'Ocarina of Time' and 'The Wind Waker' were far better.
6. As much as I love(ed) Spore, it doesn't really deserve to be in a top 50 list. At best you can play it through once, then it's lost all its charm.

I can't seem to find the original post... there are a bunch of top lists at the original site, but no top 50 games list?
I could use some advice on what to buy for my Wii. I picked up Call of Duty World at War and am loving the team death match mode. Many people say that the Wii isn't a good FPS system but once you get the hang of the Wiimote it's actually one the best systems for FPS.
I wonder if they will make improvements with the new, even more realistic motion plug-in that comes with the Lightsabre duals?
I digress... where's the top 50 game list now?

Any list of the top X games is going to be biased based on personal like and dislikes. I wouldn't have put Spore anywhere on that list, or Fallout 3 (at least at the time, probably would now). Anyway, its not terrible.
