I'm writing this from the US, where I'm on a road trip from San Francisco to Las Vegas. Everyone here, at every bar along the way, is obsessed with the financial meltdown and proposed $700 million federal bailout - and I've been wondering what effect it will have on people's love lives.
According to New York Magazine, the Wall Street clubs that cater to corporate types are still packed, but a Columbia sociologist believes that in times of cash crisis, strip clubs will become emptier while prostitutes will remain as busy as ever. The credit crunch has already raised the divorce rate among the superwealthy in the US - but for lots of my friends, the volatility of the market has done the opposite, and caused a mini-epidemic of casual sex as they tire of worrying about cold, hard cash and cozy up to the nearest warm body instead.

Filthy devils seek Filthy Lucre. And dont forget about the other $699Billion.. It makes a difference.

Catherine need not be concerned about any detrimental effect on her love life. I am sure that looking as good as she does things will be fine. However by introducing the topic at the right moment it could afford some much needed longevity to the proceedings?

The beauty of capitalism, is that, when the shit hits the fan we all get a share.

I love your behaviour...
I love your
behaviour, the light
of a blackbird
and a luminous
farm; I listen
to you when
a care disappears
and then, in the
sound of a new
day, a magical
dreamland invites
me to cry....
