As an American citizen, the things that terrify me about this election (other than John McCain's overly Botoxed and face-lifted Joker smile during the debates!) are attitudes like the ones in this clip [via Perezhilton] oh, and everything about Sarah Palin in general.
I almost vomited when McCain called Sarah Palin a "role model for women" during the final debate.
We are facing a monumental moment in history, because the next
president will almost certainly be nominating one or more Supreme Court
justices and Roe vs. Wade and our reproductive freedoms lie in the
balance.
The website Jezebel has already pointed out the similarities between Palin's policies and Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale. As a kid, I always thought that was a horror story, but if she gets into office it may come to life. Obama HAS to win this election.

Good grief, people really are that stupid and blinkered? I always thought that was just a don't-go-to-the-American-backwoods story, that it was a let's-laugh-at-the-hicks sort of thing. I'm afraid.

Oh Catherine, they are the kind of people who have opted to live in a world of their own, where they do no wrong and that they only have to answer to God, come on now its hardly a rare version of God in America, and as you know there are many who view America as a Godless society, ergo the most ordinary behavioural ethic may be ignored by such Christians. It bears a strong resemblance to the McCarthy version of Americanism where all honor and civility can be righteously ignored.

I've met these kinds of people. They act real nice when your white but their racism is always just below the surface against anything different than them. They wrap themselves in their Christianity and clutch their guns for protection from the outside world in which they are very much afraid.
I just hope they don't vote on election day due to one too many 6packs.

I keep thinking of Nixon whenever I see pictures of Obama, the images seemed to blend.
He did seem to have a chip on his shoulder when he was in Europe, referring to his grandfather having been a domestic servant to the British, which led to a lot of feverish activity by diplomats according to an Independent report.
Whoever gets in it'll be a case of 'Come back Bush, all is forgiven' I reckon.
