Contributor to the Cyclotherapy blog, Simon O'Hagan is the Deputy Comment Editor of The Independent. He cycles 11 miles to work each day - most days, anyway - on his single-speed Specialized Langster (the black 2006 version), which purists deride for not being a true fixed, but then Simon's bike-handling skills only extend so far. He swears by the auxiliary brakes he has had added to the bike. Weekends and days off he jumps on a Giant TCR racer and goes on rides out of town, the Chilterns being a favoured spot. He is old enough to know better.
