A policeman in Italy showed there is no such thing as being off-duty, when he apprehended an armed man as he tried to rob a supermarket outside of Rome.

CCTV released by Rome police shows the criminal demand money after pulling out a gun on shoppers and cashiers in a store 20 miles outside of the Italian capital.

The hapless thief managed to escape in a getaway car.

Police have said that they are still searching for the unidentified man and have so far had no leads.
