Ha.....all equal in Islam for women and men. Yeah right. This is not about bashing Islam, will leave that to western 'leaders'. This is, instead, to point out how twisted individuals corrupt religion to serve their own failings and fears. It is a sad, sad day when our mothers, sisters, daughters are second rate people...they who ARE the creators of all men.

Fines may well be issued by the control body and ultimately paid by the energy companies but is there talk of reimbursements to the consumers? What happens to to the many millions collected?

There is one way to stop the senseless slaughter of birds by the Maltese.
Boycott the island as a holiday destination!
There is no surer way to bring the Maltese to their senses than for them to see their tourist income drop in a big way!

I read this, I read this, and I am lost. The police shoot an innocent in the tube, the hidden prisons come out now, the donations swindle is in, Tony Blaire had received this, and so I am a nut. Honest. I am lost. The Great Britain is sardine now in a small cod tin.
Yasmin Alibhai-Brown: Corruption is now endemic in our political culture
Monday, 25 February 2008
I wonder if dishonesty at high levels is now so embedded in the British political culture that those who indulge in it truly don't consider it a wrong, consider the odd financial naughtiness nothing more than that or a treat they occasionally give themselves.
This is dishonesty in the sub Sahara country, graft, lowest level human being, heartless souls, cowardly people who never had mothers. In Africa, these are what I would be called, yes? In UK. No?
I thank you

Something don't add up. Anyway Independent how about showing the same concern for people locked up by the British regime. The biggest prison population in Europe. Why should anyone sign your petition when you aint doing any petitions for British prisoners - sorry holiday camp inmates.
P.s knowing how corrupt Britain and it's media is, please offer proof that the Independent petition as recieved 90,000 signitures. Are you accountable?

And this is what Britain's war in Afghanistan is fought for, eh?
So that nutcase mullahs can sentence people to death for reading articles they downloaded on the Internet?
The British Army should be pulled out of Afghanistan NOW, and let them hang the slimey, useless Karzai from a lamppost - as they did to his predecessor, Hadji-Bullah.

Neil McGowan you are a faithful scottish tribal to your bwanas - the English imperialists. If only Karzai was as consistant as you.
You should know that Karzai was once a faithful British manservant like yourself until he refused to play paddy. Remember a scotty and Afghan dog are for life,
Ps in Britain, People even children get locked up all the time for reading articles downloaded from the internet.

To whom it may concern!
I will not say a lot...Let's be realistic people...and let's put religion aside...we're talking about some innocent life at stake here...All is know about the Pervez is that he's an educated journalist unlike some illiterate leaders who have made the decision to hang this innocent young man...If it's said that he has done or said something negative about Islam, I'll ask everyone not to believe that, because that is not the story here...And besides, humanity is what comes before religion. People who want to hang him are not even human enough to think about this young life before executing him. What's the point of killing innocent young lives, why don't you leaders instead go and do something good for the country or the society. All I want is to have this young man's life spared, because people like him are needed in order to have a free and bright future not only in Afghanistan, but the world as a whole. People, if you have the power to help overthrow this false accusation, please do so before another life goes in vain.

When will Islamic leaders admit that the extremist actions and views of a small minority of prominent politicians and governments are the direct cause of global Islam-phobia? Surely it is they who must lead the protests against this most flagrant abuse of basic human rights. Their silence is interpreted as tolerance and is the root cause of the conflict between Islamic fundamentalism and the rest of the liberal world. Governments of Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia etc, do you condone this?

USA, Europe ! Stop another tablibanism in Afghanistan!

Well, I signed the petition. It was the least I could do. But who was it aimed at? And why was it so feeble. Without us, Mr Karzai's government would fall apart, yet we cannot criticise his human rights record. Imagine if this happened in Vladimir Putin's Russia. The entire media would be frothing.
Here is what my petition would have said.
Dear Prime Minister Brown
The war in Afghanistan has been stretching for longer than WWII. Many young soldiers who have enlisted to protect their country are now stuck in a country whose GDP is entirely dependent on heroin.
For many years this war was aimed at conquering a delusional fortress, which Mark Steyn and Donald Rumsfeld claimed was carved into the Afghan mountains. By the time it was discovered (shock horror) that this Blofeld style cave complex did not exist, the seven foot bearded nutter we were supposed to have caught fled to Pakistan, our ally.
Now our young soldiers are being killed and horrifically injured in a pointless 'nation building' effort combined with 'the war on drugs'. The end result is to stop Afghanistan from reverting to a theocratic fascism sustained by drug revenues.
Whilst most of us have lost hope in this long term goal, it would be a help if our pals in Afghanistan were not thoecratic fascists themselves.
I know that you and all leading politicians are far too cowardly to criticise the USA. But surely it wouldn't be impossible for us to save the life of a young student who has been sentenced to death for reading something the Afghan thought police disaprove of. Tell Mr Karzai that he can preside over this execution, but we will withdraw our soldiers if he does, then that may tip the scales slightly.
If he thinks that within weeks he'll be hanging from his heels with flies crawling in his mouth, he might actually be our ally in helping to install liberal values.
We the undersigned have put up with Britain's routine humilation at the hands of the USA for many years. But we draw the line at being humilated by Karzai's government.
Just a thought.

The truly sad thing, Gregor, is that I really believe that Bush and Rumsfeld were sufficiently deluded and insane they *really believed* that bin-Laden had built a Darth-Vader-style Death Star in Afghanistan. Bush is a drug-addled simpleton, without an education, who believes anything he sees in movies (he doesn't read books).
