I was quite surprised by this graphic published in the Economist and highlighted by the Political Enquirer. Not only do Germans pay more tax then the Nordic countries of Denmark and Norway, but Australians and Canadians pay less than those in the US.
Political Enquirer also has interesting news of McCain's possible interest in courting Mitt Romney as his running mate. McCain's age means that his running mate is bound to be under extra scrutiny (there's a real possibility he or she might have to take the helm at some point). Romney would be an obvious choice for McCain, helping him to ease concerns of the sections of the Republican party concerned about his liberal views on gay marriage and abortion.

True - it is interesting, although I note that on an assessment of income tax alone Denmark is still out on its own by some margin.
If you were Romney would you consider it a good return for your investment if you got VP rather than the top job? What would be really interesting is if the Presidential bid ran into sand, would he still plow millions of his own cash into a McCain presidential bid?
