A nugget in Gordon Brown's long interview with Katie Couric of CBS Evening News before setting off for the States. In among the 280-word answers (several crisp 90-second sound bites), there was this exchange:
COURIC: As the equivalent of our Secretary of the Treasury, you presided over a ten-year period of unprecedented economic prosperity. Now that you're Prime Minister, do you ever feel as if you're a victim of lousy timing, created by circumstances that are beyond your control?
BROWN: I don't think you can ever predict the circumstances in which you're going to do a particular job and get them aligned to what you want them to be.
That's a yes, then.

Unemployment has fallen yet again. We have had 10 years without a recession. Mrs Thacther "the greatest Prime minister" this counrty ever had, had two recessions, and umpelpoyment reached 3 million. Wow maybe the PM should shove unemployment up and have a few recessions. The moron section of society sure loves a recession. By the way why do the elite hate this downturn so much because it is wealthy elites losing their jobs rather the scummy working amd middle classes as happened and is happening in the USA recessions. The elites at the BBC and must hate labour.

Systems administrator, something seems to have gone wrong. I posted a comment here yesterday, which has been deleted.
I didn't say anything offensive or bigoted. I only asked if John is employed to write unfunny, boring gossip for the Independent because he has a father or uncle on the editing board.
