Discrimination
Auschwitz: How relevant is it in today’s society?
A while ago, I was having a conversation with friends; the Holocaust came up and we began to tentatively discuss it. After a few minutes, one friend, who had been keeping very quiet, looked up and said, slightly confused: “What even is the Holocaust?”

If only we had been educated that HIV isn’t a curse, my family might still be with us
Last night, you may have seen me in the ITV1 documentary Corrie Goes to Kenya. During the show, you will have seen Kenya through the eyes of the four Coronation Street actors who visited us, and will have noticed the culture shock they experience in my country.

Why do some men consider the street as a female meat market?
Pronouncements on sexual inequality in the UK are normally met with an eye roll by my generation. As the babies born at the tail end of the Thatcher era in the late eighties and early nineties graduate university and begin to enter the real world, the fight for female social equality is all too often regarded as a fight that their mothers had already won. On the one hand, I’ve always been against sheltered workplaces which feel to me like a relic from a bygone age. Same-sex couples who want to embrace marriage should be a cause for rejoicing in the Christian Church
There is a quiet rumbling that has been gradually getting louder for the past decade or so, and which is only now breaking the surface and demanding attention. It is one of the remaining discriminations suffered by thousands of people in Britain each day, and finally society’s attitude towards it is beginning to change. It [...]
