An incendiary poll by the Wall Street Journal/NBC News reveals that nearly half of voters do not believe Sarah Palin would be up to the job of being president. Because voters are concerned with McCain's age (72), there is now a combustible combination in the minds of many voters, especially the independents who were tempted to vote for the Republican ticket.
Asked, “Do you feel that Sarah Palin is qualified to be president if the need arises, or is she not qualified to be president?”, 49% of all respondents said the Alaska governor is not qualified while 40% said she is.
If elected, McCain will be the oldest president ever sworn in to a first-term. McCain himself says voters need to have confidence that his running mate will be ready for the Oval Office. Apparently they don't.
But, by a whopping 64% margin, voters said they trusted Joe Biden’s ability to be commander-in-chief if the need should arise. Only 21% said he is not up to it. Among Democrats; 81% said Biden is ready. Some 15% of Republicans say Palin is not ready. Only 9% of Obama-leaning Democrats say they would consider Palin.
The WSJ/NBC News poll will be released at 00.30 BS, check at www.wsj.com for the details.

Sarah Palin lampoons her own self. She doesn't need SNL helping her.

Ana,
I think you watched a different interview than me. Governor Palin could barely leave her talking points and when she was required to do so she blathered and blustered.
Governor Palin may be a nice person but she was so out of her depth in the interview that it was frightening. At least McCain, Obama and Biden are articulate and have substance.

If you looked at photos of Palin with Kissinger and with Karzai, Palin appears completely stripped of, not only "veneer of self confidence" (which, even when helped along by teleprompters, assisted by cues, being coached and adulated by forgive-them-for-they-know-no betters, amounts to nothing) but also of poise, appearance of maturity, and of style, not to mention intelligence. Her body language is one of a little girl silently asking her God to help her through this intellectual vacuum of hers, hoping that she does not make utter fool of herself. Pathetic, pitiful, fruitless at best.

Palin has nothing going for her other than a veneer of self-confidence. Her ignorance of the critical issues facing this country is staggering (as she has demonstrated during interviews). Most importantly, she does not have the educational background or intellect needed to be a President. If I hear her pronounce Iraq as "eyeraq", giving as "givin", or say the word reform one more time, I am going to scream! I am sure that she makes a fine mayor of a small town, or governor of a sparsely populated state, but anyone who votes for her for V.P. needs their head examined!

Palin was articulate and knowledgeable in her interview with the aggresive Katic Couric, who was obviously biased against her. She really impressed me. But shame, shame on Katic Couric for using the words "Great Depression" in a question to Mrs. Palin, only to later inquire of Mr. McCain why Mrs. Palin would use such words to describe the times we are facing and whether it was a wise choice of words. Those were your own words, Ms. Couric! Shameful journalism!

I think these opinions are still colored by political affiliations and loyalty to the party. If this were not an election year and the people were polled, maybe over 90% of people will agree that she is not ready to be the most powerful woman on the planet.

After Palin's interview with Katie Couric last night on the CBS News, Palin's approval rating should plunge! It was painful to watch. She was like a deer in the headlights, and it was totally obvious that Palin is in way over her head!
She couldn't even come up with any examples of how John McCain, in his last 26 years in congress, has led the charge on calling for more oversight on Wall Street. She finally said, "I'll try to find some and bring them to you!"
Or is it that he always led the charge to deregulate?
